I am Sarah Allen and I work as the Programme Director for the London HJLH. I am really excited to be in this role as I think there is a real opportunity for bringing people together to try and understand and improve complex systems.
I have worked in prisons and secure mental health for over 20 years, most recently as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and operational manager. In this role I was part of the Senior Management Team of an NHS directorate delivering healthcare into many prisons, immigration removal centres, secure hospitals and across the Criminal Justice System (CJS). I bring a deep understanding of how prisons and healthcare work.
I have experienced the hard realities of the Criminal Justice System and also seen excellent practice. I want the Hub to provide opportunities for learning to be shared and embedded across providers and systems to improve the lives of those detained in, and working in prisons.
