User Voice are a unique ex-offender led charity that brings lived experience to the heart of systemic change. They bring about transformation for individuals and institutions by empowering the most marginalised in society – so the system can work for everyone.
In London prisons, User Voice are commissioned to work with healthcare providers to try and understand and elevate the voice of people detained in prison. They aim to understand their perspective, share ideas for improvements and raise concerns.
User Voice sit as part of our HJLH Steering Group and also work with the HJLH to organise Focus Groups and meetings with those in custody so we can understand more from them about good practice as well as about what needs to change and how best to change it. User Voice help the hub to have effective two-way communication with those most affected by the work of those in healthcare in the Criminal Justice System.
