The Health and Justice Learning Hub is keen to find the best ways to help spread important learning and to reach those who might otherwise find it hard to engage in learning and development. We know how hard it can be to make time to attend long events offsite so are endeavouring to ensure there are a range of options to suit all those working in the system.
We are providing written summaries and recordings through this website but also offer a range of online and in person events to provide informative, high-quality learning, training and development opportunities.
All our learning opportunities aim to provide space for reflection and to focus on what each of us can do individually to improve practice and safety in the care we provide.
Please contact us if there are events you would like to be a part of, or if you have ideas about the content or kinds of events that would work best for you and your colleagues.
These sessions happen monthly and aim to capture key issues in prison healthcare. We want to reach busy clinicians and partners who are often caught up with their patients and the prison regime and to provide you with a short summary of the most important issues you need to be aware of to maximise safety and improve practice. If you are not receiving the invitation to these sessions and would like to, please contact us on the HJLH email address below. Previous sessions can be viewed through the members area under "Bitesize training".
This Community of Practice is led by the London Health and Justice Learning Hub (HLJH) and Health and Justice UK - a collaboration between three Royal Colleges; Royal College of General Practice, Royal College of Nursing and Royal College of Psychiatrists.
A Community of Practice is an opportunity to come together with colleagues working in similar systems across the region with the aim of sharing learning and good practice, networking and using the brains of many on any tricky issues or cases you might want to think about.
This group is open to all staff working in prisons or associated parts of Health and Justice. It is chaired by Dr Jane Mbogoro, Lead GP for the Sheppey Cluster prisons and Dr Sarah Allen, Programme Director for the HLJH.
You can access the meeting by registering to join the Communities of Practice pages on the Health and Justice UK website and clicking on the link in the calendar.
Other Events
The Hub facilitates a range of other learning and training opportunities. These include events focused on system wide learning following specific incidents, a quarterly HJLH Sharing the Learning Event and conferences that provide the chance for networking, learning from expert speakers and sharing and reflecting on your own experiences.
